Had a phone installed in January 2009.   Have not received bills.  Everymonth ring to find out how much due and ask for bill to be sent to house.  Now after 14 months they tell me that my address does not exist.  Have had repairman from Telefonica and had television connection installed, but they still tell me I have no address.  Can someone please advise me.

Have you given them your bank details. If so one day you will go to your bank account and find it emptied. I would leave €100 in the account and have another account as your main account because one day......they will clean you out.  It takes 5 months and thousands of phone calls and faxes to get the money back.   They should never ever be given access to a main current account.  For Telefonica open another current account and lodge the exact money.  ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.

That seems rather harsh. We've had a line from Telefonica since we moved in over 8 years ago witha standing order from our account with no  real problem. The only time we did was when they were showing calls to mobiles on our bill, which we don't make, as we use our mobiles to make that type of call. I went (with a Spanish speaking friend) to the Cabildo's Consumer Complaints office. I filled in a complaint form. I had to attend an arbitration meeting (with our friend) where I put my complaint to a representative from Telefonica, and the arbitration panel ruled that these costs be reimbursed. Never had any other problem. I elected to have our bills sent via email, and the debit arrives in the bank on time and for the correct amount.

That seems a lot of hard work  form filling and arbitration meetings you are lucky you have that kind of time to spend getting your own money back.  Were you compensated for the time you lost at all that rubbish?  What right had they to take money for something that you never used and hold onto it and put you through all that cr*p to get it back.

I was charged for for premium rated calls to our phone for 2 months prior to the phone being installed in our house and the number had not been allocated anywhere prior to our house.  They just raided the account and helped themsleves to a total of €836.   I have not the time for hearings etc.  It took 5 months and thousands of phone calls and faxes to get the money back.

I am sure there are many with a similar tale.  You should not have to be down at arbitration meetings to get money stolen from your bank account put back.

Do not let Telefonica within an inch of your main current account anybody, unless you want to be at arbitration meetings etc getting your own money back.  Be warned.  I am sorry it seems so harsh but it was a nightmare for us .  We feared that they could come and take what they wanted from our account  anytime and the onus was on us to get it back.  We now have a current account just for them.

It took only a couple of minutes to fill in the form at the Cabildo. They sent me a notification of the meeting by post, and the meeting took less than half an hour. So, not a great deal of time spent.
It turned out at the meeting that our line had been crossed with another which was where the error came from. From getting the incorrect bill to getting the refund took less than two months. Don't think any other company could sort things much quicker from having a fault pointed out!

I have to agree with Rosemary. And its not just Telefonica. Once you are in the system here, paying taxes, social security, bills etc anyone can raid your account.
If you only have experience of UK banking you will not believe it is possible  but it happens. Several times a year we get the account raided and money taken out. It is impossible to find out who has taken it and what for. Just this week we had 230 Euros stolen with a note saying it was for the notification sent of 30/03/10. Needless to say no such notice has been recieved by us or the bank and even the bank cant find out who has taken it.

We know many people this has happened to. Most now only maintain their accounts with just enough to cover the monthly outgoings. Just paying enough in each month to cover.

The bank must know where it went as they authorised payment.

jk - phone Telefonica and ask them for your username and password... then you can log onto their website and view current / previous bills.
