Passport photos – first time!

Increased security measures by the British Foreign Office have led to much stricter rules regarding the photos that will be accepted when you apply for a new passport or a renewal. The British Consul in Las Palmas has recognised the basic problem, which is that the photos that Spanish photographers take, known as carnet photos, simply don’t fulfil the requirements. They’re too small, and often printed on watermarked paper, which is against Foreign Office recommendations. As a result, hundreds of residents on the Canaries have had their photos refused and their passport applications returned to them.
